For better data visualization, to enhance customer experience, and to optimize the data exploration feature set on AlayaCare Cloud ("ACC"), we are sunsetting Pentaho. Pentaho is the data visualization and reporting tool you use to create reports under the Data Exploration ("DE 1.0") tab on ACC. The sunset date is November 15, 2023.
What is the Impact?
Sunsetting Pentaho will remove the Data Exploration (i.e. DE 1.0) tab and its functionality from the ACC application. As such, the sunset impacts the reports created and scheduled within the DE tab. This transition is set to impact more than 20% of our global user base, particularly those who have yet to transition to the Data Exploration 2.0 ("DE 2.0") eco-system.
What are the Dates?
The sunset date is November 15, 2023, meaning as of this date, DE 1.0 will no longer be available for access.
What are the Benefits?
By migrating to DE 2.0, customers can expect the following:
- Uninterrupted Access: Explore insights seamlessly even during data refreshes
- More Frequent Data Refreshes: six (6) daily data refreshes for real-time reporting during business hours
- Scaled Reporting: DE 2.0 offers more reporting capabilities with comprehensive data points
What should I do to prepare for the sunset?
We recommend the following:
- Creating your own Communication Plan
- Review the Data Exploration 2.0 training assets
- Build Data Exploration 1.0 reports in Data Exploration 2.0 before the sunset
- Download reports from DE 1.0
- Watch AlayaCare University training videos

FAQ
What does "sunset" mean for DE 1.0/Pentaho?
Sunsetting Pentaho will remove the Data Exploration tab and its functionality from ACC. As such, the sunset impacts the reports created and scheduled within the tab.
Why is DE 1.0/Pentaho being sunsetted?
DE 1.0 is replaced by DE 2.0, which is powered by Looker. DE 2.0 has more functionalities and visualizations which will offer more comprehensive insight to our users.
What are the benefits of moving to DE 2.0?
Unlike DE 1.0 which is updated once a day, the data points in DE 2.0 are updated multiple times a day. Data in DE 2.0 is also always accessible. DE 2.0 offers more comprehensive reporting capabilities, with more data points available in the explores.
What happens to customers who are not using DE 2.0 after the sunset date?
Customers will lose access to the DE 1.0 tab and to their saved reports, the reports pinned to the homepage via the visualization widget, and their scheduled reports. The Data Exploration Graph widgets on the Live Dashboard will also go as part of the sunset. Customers could instead pin their desired reports (Look or Dashboard) to their DE 2.0 Home Screen using the “Save to Home Screen” button under the Data Exploration 2.0 tab, per image below.
Are there any data export tools available to retrieve my data from DE 1.0/Pentaho?
No data export is required. All data available in DE 1.0 is available in DE 2.0.
What happens to my Scheduled Reports in DE 1.0 after the sunset?
Reports that appear in the Scheduled Reports view will no longer be available after the sunset date.
What happens to Custom Reports?
All Custom Reports will still be accessible to tenants via the Operational Reports section on the Live Dashboard.
What happens to DE 1.0 Customer Warehouses?
All tenants who have a Custom Warehouse can continue to access them.
If I need help migrating reports, what can be done?
Most reports can be recreated in Data Exploration 2.0. Otherwise please feel free to contact us for more support.
What should I do if data discrepancy is discovered?
Please contact us for more support. We will report this as a bug internally and ensure increased visibility in our internal channels accordingly.
Can I access historical support and knowledge base articles after the sunset?
As we’re phasing out Data Exploration 1.0, all of its related documentation will be removed from the platforms post sunset. This includes related articles on Zendesk. This means that the whole section "Data Exploration" section on Zendesk will no longer be accessible after November 15.
What if I want direct access to my data and not through a reporting tool?
No other in-app solution is currently available. Alternatively, you can look to leverage Data Sharing solutions and integrate your data visualization tool of choice to report on ACC data.
