When accessing AlayaCare Cloud ("ACC," or popularly referred to as the careworker app on mobile) on your mobile device, users will see an onboarding screen which encourages the enablement of biometrics. Once biometrics are set up for the entire mobile device, users can return to the careworker app, and set up biometrics via "Settings", available from the menu.

Using biometrics within the careworker app

To support and use biometrics within the careworker app, you must first enable biometrics on your device. Head to "Settings" on your mobile device and refer to the below for more assistance.

Apple Devices (iPhone/iPad)

Face ID must be set up before enabling biometrics on the careworker app. If you did not set up Face ID when you first set up your iPhone, follow the steps below.

Setting up Face ID

Go to Settings, then tap "Face ID & Passcode". If asked, enter your passcode. If you did not set a passcode, you will be asked to create one to use as an alternate method to verify your identity.

Position your face inside the frame and gently move your head to complete the circle. If you are not able to move your head, tap "Accessibility Options".

Once you have finished the first Face ID scan, tap "Continue". Then, gently move your head to complete the circle for a second time. Tap "Done" when complete.

You are now ready to set up biometrics on your device. To do so within the careworker app, log into the app, head to Menu > Settings, then turn on the "Enable the biometrics" toggle to start setting up your biometrics.

Android Devices

If you did not set up Face ID when you first set up your Android device, follow the steps below.

Android can be unique in terms of where the biometrics sensor may be placed differently across devices. Please check to see if your device has biometrics in the following areas:

  • In display
  • Home key
  • Back of device
  • Side button

Once you know where the sensor is, follow the steps below.

Setting up Biometrics

Go to Settings, then tap "Security and privacy", then "Biometrics", then "Fingerprints". Please note that because Android devices can be different across brands and make, this same prompt can be Device Lock, Biometrics, FingerPrint, or Pixel Imprint.

Follow prompts on screen to register your fingerprint. When registering your fingerprint, make sure to fully cover the fingerprint sensor with your finger to prevent strong light from entering the fingerprint sensor. Tap "Done" when finished.

Next, turn on the switch next to Fingerprint unlock.

If the fingerprint sensor on your device is located on the Side key, or below the Side key, you can disable "Fingerprint always on" so to prevent accidental unlocks on your device.

To unlock your device using your finger, tap the screen or press the Power key or Side key. Then, place the registered finger on the fingerprint scanner, wherever it is located. The device will automatically unlock if it recognizes your fingerprint.

You are now ready to set up biometrics on your device. To do so within the careworker app, log into the app, head to Menu > Settings, then turn on the "Enable the biometrics" toggle to start setting up your biometrics.
