Multi-factor authentication, or MFA, offers extra security to your login and usage of the AlayaCare careworker app. To provide additional security, your agency may require you to authenticate with a one-time code upon login. If MFA is enabled for your agency, you will be asked to enter a code every time you login to the app.
MFA on our mobile app is available via email, or via any Authenticator app.
MFA via Email
Upon login, if MFA is enabled, a new screen will ask for a one-time code. Please check your email to obtain your code. A sample of the code is shown below; you can copy and paste it into your app.
Enter the code and tap "Submit". If the code timed out or is incorrect, tap on "Resend code" to obtain a new one directly in your inbox.
MFA via an Authenticator app
You can also use an authenticator app to receive a code instead of getting this MFA code via email. If this is the workflow your agency has enabled, you will see a screen where you can set up the authenticator app to obtain codes for all future logins. If your agency is using authenticator, your initial login will be similar to the image below.
At this point, you will need to download an authenticator app at the App Store or Google Play. Your agency may be using a popular app like Google Authenticator, but there are also other free options available. Please check with your agency to download the selected app. Once you have downloaded the app, return to the screen above within the AlayaCare mobile app. Tap on "Unable to scan?" and a key will display on screen, as shown below.
Copy this key and paste it into the authenticator app, and the app will then generate a code for you. As an example, if you are using the Microsoft Authenticator app, your code will appear as follows:
Paste the code into the "One-time code*" field, then register your device.
You must now register your device to use multi factor authentication. Tap "Get Started" and follow the instructions on screen. Please note that there may be variations across iOS and Android devices.
After completing this step, you will see a drop down menu, where you will be asked to tap "Continue" in order to continue to the AlayaCare mobile app.
Once setup is complete, you will see the login screen. Installing an authenticator app with AlayaCare means that every time you log into the mobile app, you will be asked to enter a code. You will then have to open your authenticator app, then enter the code into the "One time code*" field on our careworker app. Please note that the authenticator app will refresh the code at a set interval.
