Objective
Our optimized global search functionality aims to provide the following to our users:
- a better match between your search criteria and results displayed
- maximized discoverability of relevant results
- decreasing navigation fatigue by getting users quickly to the result(s)
What is new
The improved search now offers the following:
- Optimized search algorithm
- New ranking algorithm
- Customizable search index
- Search with 2-character words, or special characters (e.g. last name searches such as Au Yeung, St-Jean, O'Reilly)
- Search with both 2-character words or special characters and pull matching profile screens per examples below. This ensures that shorter name searches provide more upfront results.
Customizable search index
As part of this global search optimization, users can now customize their search index within AlayaCare Cloud so to tailor your search experience and improve performance.
By default, the following fields are indexed. These are the only field values searchable unless you customize your search index:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Preferred Name
- External ID
- AlayaCare ID
- Birthday
- Address (Line 1)
- Zip/Postal Code
- Phone (Main)
Edit or Add a search field
To choose the fields to include in your organization's preferred search results, go to Settings > Form Context, and edit an existing field. Click on the pencil icon to edit that field.
Head to the "Include in Global Search", select "Yes" to edit or add the attribute to the search. Save by clicking on "OK", and the system will show you a confirmation message at the top right hand corner.
Please note that there will be a delay of up to 10 mins in your search results, whenever you update the indexing of a field.
Please note that the following are yet to be supported in the improved global and index search:
- SQL Stopwords (ex. Will, The)
- Facilities, Groups, and Tags
- Advanced filtering (filter by status)
What we are working on for future releases, but are currently unavailable:
- The indexing of default indexed golden fields cannot be unindexed
- Searches combining default fields and custom index
