The interRAI Clinical Assessment Protocols (CAPs) are used to identify areas in which a client has an increased risk of decline or high potential for improvement. CAPs are triggered when completing an assessment for a client, based on the responses entered in specific fields of the assessment. CAPs help the assessor focus on key issues identified during the assessment process, so decisions to how, and what to intervene can be reviewed with the client.
CAPs are only calculated on comprehensive assessments; note that not all CAPs are calculated for all interRAI instruments. The table below highlights which CAPs are used in specific instruments. Please note that the interRAI Long Term Care Facility (LTCF) Assessment is currently under development.
