Outcome Scales are embedded in various interRAI tools and are automatically calculated, based on the responses that have been entered in a client’s interRAI assessment. Outcome scales provide the clinical user evidence-based information which leads to consistent decision-making by agencies and supports evidence-informed resource allocation across client populations.
The table below highlights which Outcome Scales are calculated in specific instruments. Please note that the interRAI Long Term Care Facility (LTCF) Assessment is under development.
Name | Description | Code | Instrument where calculated |
Activities of Daily Living - Long Form | Provides a measure of the person’s ability to perform ADLs. As this scale uses 7 ADL’s to calculate the score, it is more sensitive to clinical changes than the other ADL scales. | sADLLF |
Activities of Daily Living - Short Form | Provides a measure of the person’s ability to perform ADLs. This scale uses 4 ADL’s to calculate the score. | sADLSF |
Activities of Daily Living Self Performance Functional Hierarchy | Reflects the disablement process by grouping ADL performance levels into discrete stages of loss (early, mid or late stage losses) | sADLH |
Activities of Daily Living — Instrumental Activities of Daily Living Functional Hierarchy | Categorizes the person based on impairment in both ADLs and IADLs. | sFUNH |
