If your organization has enabled the biometric authentication feature, you have the option to sign in to the AlayaCare mobile application using fingerprint or face recognition, depending on the biometric authentication options available on your specific mobile device and enabled in your settings. Using fingerprint or face identification to sign in to the AlayaCare app can make the login process easier as it prevents you from having to enter your password every time you need to log in or renew your session.
Biometric authentication through fingerprint or face recognition cannot be used if you are required to log in via SSO. It can only be used as an alternative to logging in with an AlayaCare username and password.
The terminology and options available to you will differ slightly based on whether you are using an Android or iOS device.
- Using Touch ID or Face ID to sign in to AlayaCare from an iOS device
- Using fingerprint or face recognition (biometric authentication) to sign in to AlayaCare from an Android device
Using Touch ID or Face ID to sign in to AlayaCare from an iOS device
Whether you can use touch ID or face ID to sign in to the AlayaCare mobile app from an iPad or iPhone will depend on your device model. iPhones X and above use Face ID whereas older iPhones (6 and above) use Touch ID.
Once your organization has enabled biometric authentication for the mobile app, you will be asked whether you wish to enable Touch ID or Face ID, depending on the option available on your device.
Once you select enable, the Touch ID or Face ID login setting will be turned on for you under settings.
If you have not set up Touch ID or Face ID in your device settings, you will be prompted to enable the option available on your device in your settings before you can use them to access AlayaCare. To learn more about setting up Touch ID or Face ID on your Apple device, please see the following resources:
You will not be able to toggle on the Touch/Face ID login setting until you have configured Touch/Face ID in your device settings.
After you have allowed the AlayaCare app to use Touch ID or Face ID to authenticate you, you will see a new option on the login page. Select log in with Touch ID or log in with Face ID to proceed with signing in using your preferred biometric method.
You will also be able to use this option when prompted to renew your session.
Note that if you enter a different email address or server name, you will need to enter your password to log in and then reenable the Touch ID/Face ID login setting in the app.
If you update your Face ID/Touch ID settings on your device, you will be prompted to enter your password to confirm your identity.
Updating your password will not affect your Face/Touch ID login settings.
Using fingerprint or face unlock (biometric authentication) to sign in to AlayaCare from an Android device
The biometric options available to configure on Android phones and tablets will depend on the device model and operating system. You will be able to see what options you have available to configure by going to settings>security or settings>biometrics and security, depending on your device. From here, you will be able to set up face recognition and fingerprints and set your biometric preferences.
Once your organization has enabled biometric authentication for the mobile app, you will be asked whether you wish to enable biometric authentication for the AlayaCare app.
Tap enable will allow you to use fingerprint or face identification (depending on what you have configured in your device settings) each time you sign in to the AlayaCare app. It will also enable the biometric login setting in the app settings.
If you have not set up biometric authentication in your device's security settings, you will be prompted to configure your biometric preferences in your settings before you can use them to access AlayaCare.
After configuring your device settings, you can go back to the AlayaCare app and enable the biometric login setting.
After you have allowed the AlayaCare app to use your preferred biometric to authenticate you, you will see a new option on the login page. Select log in with biometrics to proceed with signing in using fingerprint or face recognition.
You will also be able to use this option when prompted to renew your session.
Note that if you enter a different email address or server name, you will need to enter your password and reenable the biometric login setting in order to use your preferred biometric to access the app again.
If you update your biometric preferences in your device settings, you will need to enter your password before logging in to confirm your identity.
Updating your password will not affect your biometric login settings.
