Daylight saving time begins in Australia on Sunday, October 3rd, 2021 at 2:00 am local time. Please note that the end time of visits scheduled to occur during the 2:00 am to 3:00 am window on October 3rd will be automatically moved an hour later in time in order to maintain the same quantity of hours scheduled for the visit. For example, if a visit would normally be scheduled to occur from 7:00 pm on Saturday until 7:00 am on Sunday, the end time of the visit will be scheduled for 8:00 am on Sunday, October 3rd so that the visit duration remains 12 hours in spite of the hour lost during the time change.
If use service duration is not checked for a single visit that is scheduled to occur when daylight saving is beginning, the visit end time will not be readjusted by an hour to account for the time change.
If your agency would prefer to keep the scheduled end time, you will need to make changes to any impacted visits in advance. To identify which overnight visits will be affected, you can create a Look in Data Exploration 2.0 using the Visit explore.
Add the following filters to view any overnight visits from October 2 to 3 2021:
- Visit Start day of Month is equal to 2
- Vsit Start Month Name is October
- Visit Start Year is 2021
- Visit End Day of Month is equal to 3
You can use the resulting report to identify visits that will be affected and may need to be modified depending on your agency's preferred method of handling daylight saving time.
Please note that if your agency/branch is located in a time zone that does not observe daylight saving time, this behavior will not apply as long as the correct time zone is selected in AlayaCare.
