AlayaCare Cloud's "Care Delivery" tab allows users to record and revisit any medications that a client is currently taking, or has taken in the past. Once a medication has been added, care workers can add information to, or review details about administering the medications for that client during visits. This particular function is called "Medication 1.0", and eligible customers who are currently on it can now begin the transition to Medications 2.0.

For more information on the difference in the versions, and how to transition, refer to this article.

⚠️ Please note that Medications 2.0 is not supported by Forms Advanced Components. ⚠️

What does Medications 2.0 offer?

It is an upgrade to our Medications 1.0 solution, and some of its key benefits are:
  • Additional reporting capability: Medications 2.0 allows users to easily create medication administration reports and pull information into 485 forms so to meet CMS requirements.
  • Custom medication library: the medication library allows the easy entry, storage and retrieval of data when required. Nurses and caregivers can save time on administration tasks and more on delivering care to their clients.
  • Overall configurability: The new settings in Medications 2.0 can be configured to meet agency specific requirements when entering medication details. Speak to us to learn more.

Will my agency switch to Medications 2.0, and how do I request it?

At this point, only some agencies will be migrating from 1.0 to 2.0. Typically, those who migrate to the new version are agencies who are currently on 1.0, who regularly use the "Medication" profile, and who does not enter any administrations.

However, your agency may have yet to start using medications (in the case where none is needed), but may also be enabling Medications 2.0. Certain factors may affect your decision to migrate, such as your use of advanced form components, or maybe certain infusion fields you use are not yet available. It is strongly recommended that you speak to us to discuss your options. Please note that with advanced form components, when you enable Medications 2.0, only the Medication 2.0 component(s) will be available to add to forms in the form builder.

The process to enable Medications 2.0 is simple. After receiving your request and related information such as your go-live dates, we will work with internal teams to enable this feature for your environment. Turnaround time will be between 2 to 3 business days, and you will be given access to Medications 2.0 first in a UAT/preview environment before approving the changes for the feature to go live in your production environment.

Permissions specific to Medications 2.0

We are working on preparing more material so agencies can better understand and use permissions (popularly known as ACLs, or access control lists) specific to Medications 2.0. We also offer a quarterly update to all ACLs within ACC, which you can access via this article.

For now, note that the system administrator needs to enable two permissions in order to allow employees in their organization to have access to Medications 2.0, and Medication Administration. Specifically, they can be found under and Clinical folder and are:

  • View Medication
  • View Medication Administration

Is there a sunset date for Medications 1.0?

AlayaCare does not currently have a defined sunset date for Medications 1.0. Based on our tenants' activity and level of usage, we will be assessing this in the near future.

⚠️ Please note that no further new improvements will be made to Medications 1.0. Bugs will continue to be triaged and prioritized following the regular processes. ⚠️

You may continue to refer to Zendesk for instructional articles about Medications 1.0. However, only articles newly published under the Medications 2.0 section here on Zendesk will be specific to any enhancements or new features released.
