For our transportation and shopping programs we are currently scheduling ride requests as one-way visits. So the client’s trip to their requested location is one visit, and their trip home is another. Our volunteers and agency vehicles are in AC as employees.
Currently our schedulers are using Google Maps externally from AC to determine the ideal match for each visit and are then assigning the visit to the appropriate volunteer driver or agency vehicle based on start and finishing locations, and the distance and timing from previous visits assigned. This is an extremely time consuming process.
Currently in AC, within each visit, you have a transportation tab which is really neat. The only issue is, we are not scheduling a route in one clients visit. We need to schedule multiple client’s visits to an employee. For our use, I feel as if this tab should be a separate tool within the schedules tab on the left where you can drag and drop client visits into this tool and based on pick-up and destination location you can build a route for each volunteer or agency vehicle using the mapping/routing feature built-in.
Alternatively, maybe you could find an industry partner that has an excellent scheduling software for transportation that could create an API to pull the ride details out of AlayaCare into their software. Their software could then schedule the rides based on various parameters like driver availability, seating capacity, region preferences and push the data back in to AlayaCare once scheduled and matched to the employees.
AC currently isn't built for transportation scheduling. Are their any plans to address that in the near future?
