DE 2.0 Dashboard filters

I tried to filter a Dashboard by client Group, to clients who have 2 groups. E.g. CHSP and Gunnedah. But could only filter by "OR" not "AND". Is there a way to change this to CHSP AND Gunnedah?

  Hi Jasmin Bird,

  I spoke to the team and they mentioned the filter should allow you to add two different groups. Could you provide us with some screenshots so we can understand the issue better?

  Hi Alex,

  I am able to add 2 different groups however we use our Groups for location areas and programs. In DE 1.0 I would choose to filter by 2 groups, one for location and one for program, so I could see all the clients who lives in the town AND had services funded through CHSP. However now it will only show me client who have either filter. It means I'm get say 300 results instead of 20. I've added a screen shot of the filter.

  We restructured our data because DE 2.0 makes reporting on Form Context fields easy.  We created different Form Context fields for the different group types eg:

  • record type (facility or individual)
  • facility type (RACF, TCP, prison etc)
  • geographic region (metro-wide, South, North etc)
  • funding source (Base contract or other etc)
  • etc.

  We had the same problem as you before, when we used Groups fields to record these metrics on setting up a new client.  The only way to get it sorted before our data restructure was to use 'Merge Query' in DE 2.0.  We would filter on the geography (eg East) to create a primary table, then create a secondary query to pull out the other elements (eg facility type).  This worked, but it was complicated, and I never quite trusted it as a solution.

  PS I don't think Looker permits an 'AND' operand in a query (might be wrong), and you can't add the same field twice to the filter panel (which would have the same effect as 'AND').
