The MAR printouts are very long with a lot of information that doesn't need to be there. I have to print out and mail all MARs on my BCBS funded PDN babies, and I can barely fit the paper claim packets into an envelope because of the lengthy MAR printouts. I printed a 6 day period on one kiddo and it was 9 pages long to show the administration of about 6 meds that were given over the 6 day period. A list view would be much better for preparing our claims. We would just need the following fields:
Med Name, Special Instructions, Dose, Route, Time Instruction, Administration Times (from the screen we entered the med on), and then for the administration of it - employee's name, date administered, time administered, dose administered, route administered, held (yes or no), and the employee's comments (if any entered).
Would also ask that this list print chronologically, in order of dates / times administered. Right now, they print one med at a time, and you have you have to jump around from med to med if you're trying to see what meds were administered during a certain time frame.
BCBS actually declined one month of one of our patients because they couldn't understand our med administration times and asked us to re-write them in a list format. (BCBS requires a skilled intervention at least once per hour, so med administration times are integral to our claims being approved.)
