Viewing a Monograph of a Medication

Medications added through the Medication Database library would each have an associated medication monograph. Otherwise known as drug information, this monograph is provided by the third-party drug database solution and the content is not editable. The monograph will provide a limited summary of medication information such as the medication name, the common purpose for receiving the medication, medication effects and side effects, instructions and warnings.  It does NOT include any and all information such as conditions, treatments, medications, side effects, or risks that may apply to a specific individual receiving this medication.

In order to access the monograph, you need to be in a role which have access to the ACL View screening and monograph reports, accessible under Clinical.

Users will have the option to view the medication’s monograph, accessible through the individual medication menu, under the client’s Medication tab, or through the medication detail page.

Once you are at this screen, click on "View Monograph". The PDF for the selected medication will then open in a new tab.

You can then right click to save the PDF onto your device.

Viewing an Interaction of a Medication

Medications added through the Medication Database library may occasionally be screened for interactions. Note that this screening is provided by the third-party drug database solution, and the content is not editable. It will screen all medications added through the Medication Database for  alerts of a prior allergic reaction, drug-to-drug interaction, drug-to-food interaction, drug-to-alcohol interaction, duplicate therapy, and drug dosing. The document also provides contradictions of disease, drug route, age, and gender.

In order to access the Medication Screenings report, you need to be in a role which have access to the ACL View screening and monograph reports, and have at least one medication added through Medication Database. Eligible users can then see the option of “View all interactions” from the Medication Profile.

Clicking on the "View interactions" button will show the alert message below. The message is to remind users that the medication interaction document provides medication screenings among all the client’s medications added through the Medication Database library only.

The screening information opens in a new browser tab. The information includes alerts of a prior allergic reaction, drug-to-drug interaction, drug-to-food interaction, drug-to-alcohol interaction, duplicate therapy, and drug dosing. The document also provides contradictions of disease, drug route, age, and gender.

For Allergic reactions, the system checks the allergies recorded on the Alayacare Cloud website. For the screening to properly pick up and identify an allergy risk, it needs to be an exact match. For example, if there is a typo, the item will not be identified as an interaction. If the drug family has been indicated as the allergy, it will not identify specific medications within that drug family as an interaction.

A client's allergies can be saved in two places. First, in their Risk Assessment section under Overview, as shown below.

Second, in the client’s Medical History under Client Info.
